New Atlantis Book Discussion
Cluny's first private Encounter brought together thinkers, entrepreneurs, academics and clergy for a discussion about Sir Francis Bacon’s New Atlantis, culture, faith, and science—kicking off with a private tour of the Swiss Guards’ barracks and a lecture by Liz Lev about art, the Vatican, and the scientific revolution.
The group then went to the Pontifical North American College, where they talked about New Atlantis, drawing parallels to modern issues related to the role of technology, political philosophy, and technology in the emergence of the antichrist in history; the grounds of morality; the Scientific revolution; and more. The conversation continued over a five-course meal at Ristorante Velando, touching on AI, Catholicism, physics, and history.
